The city of Ripon is located in North Yorkshire on the River Ure. Ripon is a beautiful market town that was founded over 1300 years ago, and is famous as an old Cathedral City where monasteries have stood since the 7th Century.

The old city of Ripon is filled with shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs, and also boasts many historical buildings and museums, including Ripon Cathedral, the Wakeman’s House, Studley Royal, Fountains Abbey and Ripon Spa Gardens where a Victorian bandstand is set. A market is held every Thursday on the Ripon market square next to its 300 year old Obelisk, where the Hornblower will sound his horn at 9 o’clock every night.

Day 1

Morning departure from Cumbria as we travel via Richmond and the cathedral city of Ripon on our way to the Grade ll listed Nidd Hall. Plenty of time to explore the hotel's extensive facilities before meals commence with dinner with dinner in the hotel.


Day 2

A day at leisure to take part in the vast range of activities that Warner's are famous for or become an expert in the gentle art of relaxation. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 3

Today we have a full day visit to the historic city of York or simply spend the day at Nidd Hall. Dinner in the hotel this evening.

Day 4

This morning we have a visit to the cathedral city of the Yorkshire Dales, Ripon. We return to Nidd Hall via Masham, Bedale and Thirsk, some of the towns associated with the writer James Herriot. Dinner in the hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast we leave our hosts at Nidd Hall and return to Cumbria via Hawes and the Yorkshire Dales.
