Meet up with old friends & make new friends on this party weekend, staying at The Royal Victoria Hotel, Llanberis

Betws-y-Coed

Betwys-y-Coed  is North Wales' most popular inland resort. It is where the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the West, the Llugwy, the Lledr and the Machno. Much of it was built in Victorian times and it is the principal village of the Snowdonia National Park.

Set in a beautiful valley in the Snowdonia Forest Park Betws-y-Coed has a wonderful setting surrounded by dense woodland and magnificent mountain scenery. The beauty of the area is enhanced by cascading waterfalls, hill-top lakes, river pools and ancient bridges. Ever since the Victorian artists flocked to the area and formed the first artist colony it has been a mecca for those that appreciate its unique natural beauty.

At the railway station is a Museum with a miniature railway, shop and restaurant. The old 14th century church of St Michael's is one of the oldest in Wales and is worth viewing.

Llangollen

Renowned for the surrounding hills and the River Dee, Llangollen has something for every visitor. There is a wide range of cafés, bars & restaurants to suit every pocket and a wealth of independent shops to browse and interesting places to visit. Take a stroll along the Victoria Promenade, if you just want to relax, let the train take the strain and ride on the steam railway or experience peace and tranquility, gliding along the canal on a horse-drawn boat along eleven miles of canal from Gledrid to the Horseshoe Falls via the spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Horseshoe Pass

Horseshoe Pass (Welsh: Bwlch yr Oernant, "Pass of the Cold Stream") in north-east Wales separates Llantysilio Mountain to the west from the Marilyn Cyrn-y-Brain to the east. The A542 road from Llandega to Llangollen runs through the pass, reaching a maximum height of 417 metres (1,368 ft). The road travels in a horseshoe shape around the sides of a valley, giving the pass its name. The route dates from 1811, when a turnpike road was constructed across the area.

The Pass is well known for the Ponderosa cafe at its highest point and the scenic views along the road. Both the cafe and the pass itself are extremely popular with cyclists & motorcyclists.
