Princess Diana’s most iconic dresses on show at her former home Kensington Palace

Twenty years after their flower-covered gates became her unofficial shrine, this unique exhibition at Kensington Palace reframes Diana’s story, from the tale of a tragic princess to that of an empowered modern woman who shaped her identity.

Trace the evolution of the Princess’s style, from the demure, romantic outfits of her first public appearances, to the glamour, elegance and confidence of her later life.

Don’t miss an extraordinary collection of garments, including the pale pink Emanuel blouse worn for Diana’s engagement portrait by Lord Snowdon in 1981 and Victor Edelstein’s iconic ink blue velvet gown, famously worn at the White House when the Princess danced with John Travolta.

The Princess’s relationship with her favourite designers is explored through a display of original fashion sketches created for her during the design process.

In addition, a recently discovered blue tartan Emanuel suit will go on display to the public for the first time. This suit was worn by Diana on an official visit to Venice in the 1980s.

Day 1

We depart Cumbria in the morning and head south to London, arriving in the capital mid afternoon, we check into our hotel, the Holiday Inn London Kensington. Rest of the day at leisure to sample some of the excellent London restaurants and nightlife.

Day 2

Following breakfast in the hotel, we have a short walk to Kensington Palace, here we have included admission to the Palace that was Diana’s home from 1981 and where she also regularly hosted receptions for her many charities in the State Apartments and Orangery. 2017 marked the 20th anniversary of her death and the Palace had a unique significance in the illustrious life of the Princess of Wales and to celebrate her life and enduring legacy, historic Royal Palaces will have a new exhibition and commemorative garden. Trace the evolution of the Princess’s style, from the demure, romantic outfits of her first public appearances, to the glamour, elegance and confidence of her later life. Don’t miss an extraordinary collection of garments, including the iconic velvet gown, famously worn at the White House when the Princess danced with John Travolta. We have included afternoon tea at the Palace - served either in the Orangery or special marquee - prior to leaving London for the return journey to Cumbria, arriving home late evening.
