Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace serves as both the office and London residence of Her Majesty The Queen, as well as the administrative headquarters of the Royal Household. It is one of the few working royal palaces remaining in the world today. Today the State Rooms are used extensively by The Queen and Members of the Royal Family to receive and entertain their guests on State, ceremonial and official occasions. During August and September when The Queen makes her annual visit to Scotland, the Palace's nineteen state rooms are open to visitors.The State Rooms form the heart of the working palace and are lavishly furnished with some of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection - paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Poussin and Canaletto; sculpture by Canova; exquisite examples of Sèvres porcelain; and some of the finest English and French furniture.


St Paul's Cathedral

From royal weddings and state funerals to famous burials and more, St Paul’s Cathedral has played a major role in London’s history.

Designed by Sir Christoper Wren who also supervised the construction, St Paul's was built between 1675 and 1710. Wren’s design combined Neoclassical, Gothic and Baroque elements in an attempt to symbolize the ideals of both the English Restoration and 17th-century scientific philosophy.

Step into St Paul's and enjoy the cathedral's awe-inspiring interior. Take advantage of a touch-screen multimedia guide or join a guided tour to explore this iconic building, both now included with the sightseeing admission charge.

Venture down to the crypt and discover the tombs and memorials of some of the nation's greatest heroes such as Admiral Lord Nelson and the Duke of Wellington. Also visit Oculus, an award winning 270° immersive film experience.Visitors can try out the acoustic quirks of the Whispering Gallery and continue their climb to the Golden Gallery to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views across London.



Greenwich is a place of contrasts, from awe-inspiring architecture, tranquil open spaces and breathtaking views to cosy pubs and bustling street markets.

Situated on the River Thames in south east London, Maritime Greenwich is a World Heritage Site and famous for such historic landmarks as the Royal Observatory the home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Meridian Line, Longitude 0°, the Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum.

In 2009 Greenwich celebrated the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne. King Henry was born at Placentia, the royal palace at Greenwich. Today, the Old Royal Naval College stands on its site.

Emirates Air Line

The Emitates Air Line is a cable car link across the River Thames. The service opened on 28 June 2012 and is operated by Transport for London (TfL). In addition to transport across the river, the service advertises "a unique view of London".  The duration of a single crossing is ten minutes. The service, comprises a 1-kilometre (0.62 mi) gondola line that crosses the Thames from the Greenwich Peninsula to the Royal Victoria Dock, to the west of ExCeL London. Construction of the cable car began in August 2011.

Monday 10th Aug

A morning departure from Penrith as we travel south to London and a 5 night stay on board the Sunborn Super Yacht. This floating hotel is situated in East London at the Royal Victoria Dock. Evening at leisure.

Tuesday 11th Aug

Following breakfast, we join our coach for the transfer into Central London and an included visit to Buckingham Palace, the London residence of Her Majesty the Queen and a working palace. Visitors can see the 19 magnificent State Rooms where the Queen and members of the Royal Family entertain their guests on State, ceremonial and official occasions. After time for lunch, we have an included sightseeing cruise, complete with commentary on the River Thames. Coach transfer back to the Sunborn late afternoon, alternatively spend the evening in central London and return to the Sunborn via the Docklands Light Railway.


Wednesday 12th Aug

Day at leisure, central London is easily accessible via the Docklands Light Railway, the station is a 5 minute walk from the Sunborn Yacht.


Thursday 13th Aug

This morning we have a fascinating guided tour of historic St. Paul’s Cathedral, standing at the heart of the City of London. Created in the 17th Century by Sir Christopher Wren, the Cathedral is a landmark the world over, a place of celebration as well as remembrance. The rest of the day is free in London. Coach transfer will be available back to the Sunborn, alternatively spend the evening in central London.


Friday 14th Aug

A day at leisure, why not visit Greenwich today, take the Emirates Cable Car for fantastic views over the Thames and the City of London. Greenwich attractions include the Cutty Sark, Old Royal Naval College with its fabulous painted hall, Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum, Greenwich Park and Greenwich Market.


Saturday 15th Aug

We leave our hosts at the Sunborn Yacht for the return journey home to Cumbria, arriving back home early evening.

Sunborn London

Located less than a minute's walk from ExCeL London, the Sunborn London is a floating super-yacht hotel docked in Royal Victoria Dock, boasting free WiFi access, a bar and a restaurant. The hotel is 7 minutes' drive from London City Airport and a 6-minute drive from the iconic Canary Wharf.

Each of the smartly designed rooms feature a TV with Freeview, air conditioning and an electric kettle. Also included is a shower, a hairdryer and free toiletries. Some of the rooms also benefit from a view overlooking The Royal Docks.

At Sunborn London there is a 24-hour front desk and a sun deck. Other facilities offered at the property include a ticket service, a tour desk. The Symphony Spa offers guests the option to treat themselves to a therapeutic experience including massage and body treatmemts.

The lounge bar serves a selection of beers, wines, ciders and spirits.

In the restaurant, a buffet breakfast with continental and cooked items is served each morning. An à la carte menu is available in the evenings.

Custom House Docklands Light Railway Station is 5 minutes' walk away. It offers direct routes to Westfield Stratford City and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Emirates Royal Docks Skyline is a 5-minute journey on foot. It offers a direct route to The O2 Arena.
